The domestic Super Smash T20 competition gets underway this weekend and for the first time the women will play alongside the men in a series of double headers.

Otago Sparks sipper Katey Martin says having televised matches will be a big boost for the women's game.

"Yeah it's really cool I mean we get to play before the boys and the girls are really excited to kick it off on a couple of good days," said Martin.

"The girls are really going to thrive under TV as well, we’re going to be first time televised domestic.

"It's really exciting and I know the girls are fizzed for it."

There are 16 double headers scheduled for this season with the first kicking off on Saturday at Seddon Park in Hamilton between the Northern Spirit and Wellington Blaze.
