Former All Blacks winger Julian Savea has taken to Twitter to thank his fans for their well wishes after flipping his car while falling asleep behind the wheel in France last week.
The 28-year-old wrote, "Just want to thank everyone for the messages and concerns about my accident.
"I am just very grateful that no one else was involved and hurt and that I made it home safely to my wife and daughter."
Savea crashed his car after his team, Toulon's, Top14 win over Perpignan on Sunday morning.
Fatima Savea, his wife, said he was uninjured in the incident.
"Tonight Julian fell asleep behind the wheels [sic] of his car and flipped his car," she wrote on Instagram.
"Thankfully he is safe and sound in bed with me now after being dropped home by the ambulance because silly me had her phone on silent and missed all the calls and texts."
She also said that alcohol had not played any part in the crash.
"Firstly, he's been sober 8 months (woohoo). Secondly, the police did a full test etc and lastly, who's dumb enough to drink and drive?
"I am just so thankful to have him home safe!"
Savea has struggled for form since moving to France, but scored an impressive try earlier in the day against Perpignan.
