A young boy has accidentally impaled himself on a bamboo stick in Whitianga today.
The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to Whenuakite to assist a little boy (a pre-schooler) who was playing on a swing with a bamboo stick and sadly impaled himself (his lower groin area) on the stick.
He was flown to Auckland's Starship Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
