Two people seriously injured in Gisborne kitchen fire

Two people have been seriously hurt in a kitchen fire in Gisborne today.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says the fire in the Wainui Rd property was out by the time they arrived at the scene, after receiving a call at 7.20pm.

Police say the pair were burnt by oil while cooking.

The pair have been taken to Girborne Hospital, both in a serious condition.
