Body found at scene of fire at Christchurch property

A body has been found at the scene of a fire at a property in Christchurch.

Police have confirmed they found a "deceased person" after attending the incident at Caulfield Ave in Halswell around 12.30pm today.

They say at this stage the death is unexplained and an officer will be guarding the scene overnight.
