He's probably New Zealand's most famous 15-year-old, but Julian Dennison definitely hasn't lost touch with reality as he awaits the release of his latest film - Hollywood blockbuster Deadpool 2.

Seven Sharp's Tamati Rimene-Sproat had a chat with Dennison ahead of the film's release, and found he very much still seems like that kid from Morrinsville, Waikato.

"I try and get back and get on top of it but its hard when your out and don't have time but I love chilling out with family," he says.

With Dennison's family by his side he's storming Hollywood without losing his soul.

"As a young Maori actor, I don't want to be seen as a child star, I want to be seen as a serious actor and an actor who can change the world," Dennison says.

And what of working alongside A-list actors Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin.

"I was really intimidated by them, they've been in this so much longer than me, they've done bigger films, they're really influential people in the industry so yeah I did have to pinch myself and open my eyes and say this is really happening," he says.
