Residents plagued by all-night parties at a south Auckland park can now look forward to a good night's sleep, with the council finally taking action to stop vehicles getting into the park.
Neighbours say late night boozy gatherings have been going on at Seaside Park every Friday and Saturday night since Christmas.
One resident counted 19 cars parked up, and residents are outraged by the activities they've witnessed.
"They're definitely toileting in that park. I've walked by couples having sex in that park when I'm walking my dogs in the morning," resident Jess Denholm told 1 NEWS.
Young local Trent Ford said the parties were bad for his parents, "because they need to get up and go to work in the mornings".
And while the residents have often called police, they've only recently complained to council and noise control in the last few weeks.
Locals were so fed up they launched their own noise control initiative last weekend, using temporary fencing and a camper van to block the car park entrance overnight.
"We are all at the end of our tether. That is the whole point. We've really got to the stage where we're like what else can we do," Ms Denholm said.
It worked a treat and most revellers left without a fuss.
Some locals claim Auckland Council has been slow to respond. But it's now on board with a solution.
"The sort of activity that's been carried on at Seaside is really not acceptable. And we will put in place measures, including gates or chains to limit access by vehicles into the park," said Ian Maxwell, the council's community services manager.
That's music to the ears of residents now looking forward to a good night's sleep.
