The Samoan rugby league team were given a hero's welcome when they greeted fans at Mangere Mall in South Auckland this afternoon, where some of their players promised to give the Kiwis a tough game this weekend.
Jazz Tevaga led the charge, firing a warning shot to Warriors teammate Shaun Johnson ahead of their clash in the first game of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
"I seen them yesterday and I told Shaun to chuck some pads on his ribs, because I know a few of us will be targeting him.
"There's big boys on both teams so definitely going to be some big hits there," Tevaga said.
Canberra Raiders star and Samoa teammate Joseph Leilua backed up Tevaga's fighting words when he said there were "no friends on the field" when asked about the Kiwis game.
Samoa play New Zealand at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium, 8:10pm on Saturday night.
