Video: Bus left wedged into side of Wellington home after ploughing into it

A bus has crashed into a house in Wellington this evening, leaving a person with minor injuries.

A police spokesperson told 1 NEWS they were called to the scene on Wallace Street in Mount Cook just before 6pm today.

Police say the bus driver received minor injuries in the crash and has been taken to hospital.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time and no one else was injured in the incident.

The northbound lane of John Street near the Countdown is closed and traffic is building up in the area.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time while heavy lift equipment removes the bus.
