Police have stopped a group of teenagers in their tracks after a store was robbed in central Auckland.
Six male teenagers wearing balaclavas were reported going into a Mt Albert business just after 6pm on Sunday, with one brandishing a weapon at the shopworker, Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk said.
"The male demanded cash from the till be handed over," she said. "The worker complied and was, thankfully, uninjured."
Police said the teens helped themselves to liquor from the shelves before running along New North Rd and boarding a train.
Responding officers called for the train to be stopped and took the suspects into custody. Kirk said a weapon and stolen goods were recovered.

Kirk said the youth's actions were concerning.
"It is completely unacceptable that retailers in our community are made to feel unsafe in their place of work," she said.
"Anyone who exhibits this type of violent behaviour can expect to be held to account,”
