A man is being sought by police after a teenager was punched "without warning" at a bus stop in West Auckland earlier this month.
The alleged assault took place at around 2.09pm on September 9 at a bus stop on Swanson Road, near the intersection with Mihini Road in Henderson.
Senior Constable Paul Stanko said the 16-year-old victim was waiting for the bus while three men were in the shelter "drinking beer".
“No words had been exchanged, and there had been no interaction between either group when, without warning, one male approached the victim and punched him.
“The punch was so forceful it caused him to stumble into the roadway, causing bruising and facial injuries.”
The three men left the shelter and walked along Mihini Road as others helped the boy up and off the road.
Police shared a screenshot from footage it obtained during investigations and wanted to speak to a man filmed wearing a white shirt.
"I welcome anyone with information to come forward to police now,” Stanko said. “Anyone in the group can also contact police to deal with this matter at any time.”
He also urged any witnesses to come foward and call police on 105.
“You may have witnessed the incident, or have CCTV, dashcam or further video that could assist us, so we thank you for your assistance in resolving this matter.”
