Two people are facing charges after allegedly shooting at ducks with an air rifle in Auckland.

Police were called to Roberton Road in Avondale following reports that people were shooting ducks shortly after 11pm yesterday.

Officers took two people aged 18 and 19 into custody. An air rifle and crossbow were located and seized.

The pair have been charged with cruelty/ill treatment of animals.

Police investigations continue.
