Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is addressing media after Cabinet met in Wellington this morning.

This is the second to last week that Parliament is sitting before it rises for the election.

Policy announcements have continued to come from the parties as the campaign continues to build.

Yesterday, Labour promised to increase KiwiSaver earnings for employees by introducing stricter regulations for employers. If elected, the party says employer contributions will become mandatory from July 1, 2028, with the minimum contribution rising to 6% by 2032.

National, meanwhile, announced it would put a dedicated team of police officers on trains and buses if it is re-elected to government in November, establishing a dedicated Auckland Transport Police Team.

A total of 50 new officers would be recruited, and police would receive an additional $7 million in funding through the 2027 budget.

ACT released its party list for the election, with broadcaster Paul Henry placed fourth, leapfrogging several sitting MPs and minister Karen Chhour.
