Armed police searched two Auckland suburbs on the North Shore after a gun was allegedly produced during a fight this afternoon.
Police were called to Ian Marwick Pl in Birkenhead at around 4.40pm after reports of a confrontation between people known to each other.
“During the fight, it was alleged one party presented a firearm,” a spokesperson told 1News.
Those involved fled the scene, prompting a search to track them down.
Arran Rd in Brown's Bay, around 13km from the initial scene, was cordoned off with the Eagle helicopter circling overhead at around 5.30pm.

A resident said there were around seven police cars blocking off both ends of the street.
