The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) spoke to media this afternoon following a review into a major payment failure that affected thousands of beneficiaries last month.
Chief executive Debbie Power and other senior leaders spoke from Wellington at 3pm to address the findings of the review.
The review comes after processing delays saw some payments wrongly suspended after they failed to have their circumstances reconfirmed in time.
The issue followed a law change requiring some people to reconfirm their circumstances at least once every 52 weeks to ensure they remained eligible for support.
The same law change also resulted in thousands of pensioners missing out on their Winter Energy Payment after it was incorrectly included in the legislation.
