Kiwi F1 driver Liam Lawson is hoping for an easy adjustment as he gets back behind the wheel of a Red Bull at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
The 24-year-old said he only found out on Wednesday that he'd be driving for the senior team for another weekend.
Ahead of the first practice session at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza, Lawson said he would "just try and make the most of it again".
"Obviously it's an interesting position for me to be in," he said.
Lawson, who normally drives for Racing Bulls, has been serving as injury cover for a recovering Isack Hadjar.
At the Dutch Grand Prix last month, Lawson put in a strong showing despite having just one practice session – finishing seventh in the main race. He was the sole Red Bull to cross the line, after teammate Max Verstappen crashed early at his home race.
Lawson's performance came amid a season of consistent results, leading the midfield in most races. He currently sits ninth in the standings on 49 points.
With last week's performance behind him, Lawson said: "It should be a bit easier to adjust."
"We also have three practice sessions here. It's a much more normal weekend, so yeah, it's another good opportunity."
Not knowing which car he'd be driving until Wednesday, the Kiwi said he had been talking with engineers from both teams to prepare for whichever possibility.
"In the back of my mind I knew that obviously there was still a chance. But obviously, only being on Wednesday, it felt quite late, but we had enough time to still do a simulator session and sort of normal prep for the weekend.
"But it's nice to finally have an answer from Wednesday to know that I can basically just put all my focus onto this car."
He said "everything" about the Red Bull was different to his regular ride at Racing Bulls.
"The sort of high-speed grip is probably the most impressive, just coming from my car. But the way they drive, the balance of the car is very, very different.
"The feedback I get through the steering, everything – the way it feels, the way it moves around – it's very different."
Stepping into the Racing Bull is Lawson's former teammate Yuki Tsunoda.
On-track action kicks off with the first practice session at 10.30pm tonight (NZT). Red lights will go out for the race at 1am on Monday.
