Jetstar has launched a new flight between Melbourne and Sri Lanka's largest city, Colombo – linking it to a flight into Australia from Christchurch.
The inaugural flight departed today and will continue to be scheduled three times a week, year-round.
Jetstar Group chief executive Stephanie Tully said the route has made it easier for New Zealanders to travel to Colombo. “We’ve timed our flights to Colombo so that New Zealanders can travel from Christchurch that morning and connect through to Colombo from Melbourne on the same day."
Tully said further additions to Jetstar's flight schedule will be added in coming months.
“From October, we’ll also be adding two extra flights per week between Auckland and Melbourne for a same day connection with the Colombo flight."
