A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged with robbery after allegedly threatening staff and stealing cash from an eatery in Wellington last night.
Wellington Area Prevention Manager Inspector Jason McCarthy said they were called about a man who allegedly demanded cash and handed a threatening note to counter staff at an inner-city eatery on Manners Street just after 9pm.
The man took over $400 and fled the scene. No-one was hurt.
"Police arrived quickly and made inquiries to track the man down, arresting him on Manners Street. The cash was also recovered," said McCarthy.
A 40-year-old man has been charged with robbery and would appear in the Wellington District Court today.
He thanked members of the public that assisted officers in locating the offender.
