Two people have been taken to Waikato Hospital after a house fire in Hamilton early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the blaze on Boundary Rd in Claudelands shortly after 4am.

Fire and Emergency said four trucks were sent. The blaze is now out and crews are working to dampen hot spots.

St John sent three ambulances and a critical care unit.

Six people were assessed and treated at the scene in a minor condition.

A further two in a moderate condition were taken to Waikato Hospital.
