Fat Freddy's Drop, Sir Dave Dobbyn among Homegrown 2027 lineup

Fat Freddy's Drop and Sir Dave Dobbyn were among the big names included in the Homegrown 2027 lineup.

Fat Freddy's Drop, Sir Dave Dobbyn and Shapeshifter are among the big names announced for next year's Jim Beam Homegrown festival in Hamilton.

The festival will return to Claudelands Oval on Saturday, April 3, 2027, marking 20 years since the event began.

Among the first acts announced for the all-Kiwi music festival were Gin Wigmore, Savage, The Exponents, Devilskin and Full Metal Orchestra.

Several artists from the inaugural Homegrown festival were set to return for the festival's 20th anniversary, including Tiki Taane, Elemeno P, Opshop, Dick Johnson, Sunshine Sound System and Kora.

Homegrown chief executive Andrew Tuck said the festival had supported 335 artists over the past two decades.

The first collection of artists taking the stage at the all-Kiwi music festival were announced today.

"To have artists who stood on the very first Homegrown stage 20 years ago now sharing the spotlight with some of Aotearoa’s biggest names two decades later is something truly special," Tuck said.

"This festival has always been about championing Kiwi music and giving our artists a massive platform to shine."

Tuck said 15 acts on next year's festival lineup would be performing at Homegrown for the first time.

"The breadth and depth of talent in this country is extraordinary, and that's why Homegrown is still going strong two decades later"

The 2026 event was the first held in Hamilton after the festival moved from Wellington's waterfront, where it had been based for nearly two decades.

The festival will return to Claudelands Oval on Saturday, April 3, 2027, marking 20 years since the event began.

According to organisers, the event attracted around 25,000 people and provided a significant boost to the local economy — prompting the decision to renew it for 2027.

Tuck previously said the move north had allowed the festival to expand in ways that were not possible in Wellington.

"The space, the layout, and the support from the city allowed us to take Homegrown to another level. We've got bigger plans for 2027," he said.

Next year's edition of the festival will feature five stages spanning rock, reggae, hip hop house and other genres.

Fans could pre-register for tickets through the official Homegrown website.
