A machete-wielding man threatened staff and demanded money at a restaurant on Auckland's North Shore last night, with police working to locate the offender.
Police said the aggravated robbery took place at a restaurant on Hinemoa St at around 8.45pm on Sunday.
"An unknown offender has entered a Hinemoa Street premises with what appeared to be a machete," said acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie.
"The man has threatened staff and made demands for money before leaving prior to police arrival."
Money was taken during the incident, police confirmed.
Police were conducting a "number of inquiries to identify and locate the person responsible", Goldie said.
