Serious injuries reported after car collides with bus near Cardrona

Police said the crash occurred on the Crown Range Road at around 10.15am on Wednesday.

A person has reportedly been seriously injured in a crash between a car and a bus south of Cardrona this morning.

Police said the crash occurred on the Crown Range Rd at around 10.15am on Wednesday.

"Initial indications suggest an occupant of the car has serious injuries, but no injuries are reported among occupants of the bus," a police spokesperson said.

Fire and Emergency NZ responded with a two trucks from Wānaka and one from Frankton.

Hato Hone St John said it responded with a helicopter and an ambulance.

Diversions were being put in place and motorists should expect delays.

Black ice and snow melt warning

Drivers across the Queenstown Lakes area were urged to take care due to black ice and surface flooding from snow melt on the district's roads.

Queenstown Lakes District Council said snow melt following warmer temperatures yesterday has caused surface flooding on parts of SH85, particularly around Hills Creek, Naseby Bypass Rd and towards Kyeburn.

Black ice has also been reported around Arrowtown, Arthurs Point and along Malaghans Rd, Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Rd, Dalefield Rd, Littles Rd, Domain Rd and Hunter Rd.

Icy conditions have also been reported in parts of Shotover Country and Lake Hayes Estate, with possible black ice between Cardrona and the Crown Range Summit and on the road between Wānaka and Cardrona.
