Jetboat crashes into rocks at Queenstown's Shotover River

Located near Queenstown, the 75km-long river is famed for its high-speed jet boat rides.

A jetboat crashed into rocks on the Shotover River in Queenstown today.

Fire and Emergency NZ was alerted to the crash near Arthur's Point at 3.14pm on Friday, responding with two crews from Queenstown and one from Frankton.

"Upon arrival, no one was trapped," a FENZ spokesperson said.

Police said a boat required support to get passengers off and that there were minor injuries reported.

St John ambulances were visible at the scene.

In 2021, a KJet boat crashed on the Shotover River, leaving five people injured including the boat’s driver.

A commercial boat crashed into a rock face on the side of the river in 2019, injuring ten people.
