Person seriously injured in dog attack in Hawke's Bay

A person has been seriously injured following a dog attack in Hawke's Bay this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Russell St South in Hastings around 2.20pm following a report a person had been attacked by a dog.

"Police responded, along with Animal Control and Ambulance, and the dog was secured," a police spokesperson said.

St John was alerted to the incident at 2.17pm and responded with one ambulance.

One person was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a serious condition.
