Paraglider injured after crashing into Mangawhai Heads cliff face

An injured paraglider has been rescued and taken to hospiral after crashing into a cliff face on Northland's Mangawhai Heads this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Tangaroa Rd around 11.10am after the paraglider called police for help, a police spokesperson said.

Fire and Emergency NZ said crews from Kaiwaka, Mangawhai and Waipū were called to help the man out of the bush.

St John said a first response unit and an ambulance responded to the scene around 11.11am.

One person was taken to Northland Base Hospital in a moderate condition.
