A car crashed into a home in Sydney last night, narrowly missing a 6-year-old autistic boy who uses a wheelchair in bed.

Hannah Smith, the boy's mother, emotionally recounted to Nine News the moment the car went through her son's "sacred place".

"I see my son laying on the bed, he's not moving."

Hannah Smith, the boy's mother, emotionally describes the moment a car crashed into her son's bedroom.

The boy was buried under bricks and glass, but the car went sideways and missed him - a "miracle" according to his mother.

"If the car went straight, the car would have been on top of him."

The 62-year-old driver said he swerved to avoid an animal, before hitting the median strip and crashing into the home, Nine News reports.

The family are left homeless while they await repairs on the "severely impacted" side of the house.

"I have nothing, but our lives," Smith said.

Local residents said it wasn't the first time a crash had happened in the neighbourhood, with one saying there's "always...police coming down with sirens, and chases".

The driver returned a negative breath-test and had not been charged.
