A man has been charged, and 50 rounds of ammunition has been seized after allegedly shooting a person in Raglan yesterday morning.

Police were called to the scene on Whaanga Rd around 8.45am on Saturday following a report a person had been injured with a shotgun.

"The victim received minor injuries and was assessed by ambulance at the scene," Detective Sergeant Rahul Badri said.

A 54-year-old man was arrested.

Badri said police carried out a search warrant and a scene examination immediately after the arrest.

"We located and seized 50 rounds of ammunition. Further extensive enquiries were carried out today, and we have successfully recovered the shotgun that was allegedly used during the incident," he said.

He was due to appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow charged with committing a dangerous act with intent to injure, unlawfully possessing a firearm, and unlawfully possessing ammunition.

Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

"This isn’t just a positive outcome for the victim, but also for the wider Raglan community," Badri said.
