A tree from a reserve crashed onto a neighbouring home on in west Auckland on Thursday evening, causing significant structural damage and leaving residents shaken.
Fire and Emergency NZ responded to the incident on Pooks Rd at around 5.10pm, sending one crew from Henderson.
Photos captured by 1News at the scene show the devastating aftermath: a roof caved in and torn apart by the weight of the fallen tree, with timber framing, roofing iron, and pink insulation spilling out.
"We understand people were inside the house at the time, and we are very relieved to hear they are safe," Auckland Council's urban forest arboriculture and ecology manager David Stejskal.

"This would have been a frightening experience, and the house has sustained significant damage. We are reaching out to the occupants to offer support."
Stejskal said the council's arborist contractors were alerted by Fire and Emergency NZ staff.
"Our team and contractors are on site today to assess the tree and begin its safe removal, which may require heavy machinery given the position of the tree and the damage to the roof."
