Serious injuries have been reported after a crash involving a pedestrian and vehicle south-west of Hamilton.

State Highway 39/Kakaramea Road is closed following the crash, which occurred between Koromatua Road and Higgison Road around 6.40am.

"Initial indications are that there are serious injuries."

While diversions are in place, motorists have been advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
