A Powerball player from Thames has won $4.5 million in Saturday night's live Lotto draw, just days after a record $28.6m jackpot was claimed in Ashburton.

The winning ticket was sold at Paper Power Thames and is made up of $4 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.

Saturday's winner is the twelfth Powerball multi-millionaire this year, according to Lotto.

The winning numbers were 03, 22, 29, 37, 39, 40.

The bonus ball was 13 and Powerball 01.

A second player also won $500,000 from Lotto First Division. That ticket was sold on MyLotto to an Auckland player.

An Auckland-based Strike player also picked up $200,000 with Strike Four, also purchased through MyLotto.

Seven other players each won $35,815 in Lotto Second Division. One of those players, from Whanganui, also won Powerball Second Division, bringing their total to $50,585.

The Second Division winning tickets were sold at outlets including Paper Plus Waiuku, Pak n Save Pāpāmoa, and through MyLotto to players in Auckland, Ōpōtiki, Whanganui and Palmerston North.

Lotto NZ said anyone who bought a ticket from Paper Power Thames or on MyLotto should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, online or through the app.
