Two people have been injured, one critically, after a stabbing in Hastings this afternoon.

Police said it received reports of a stabbing on Kiwi St in Camberly around 3pm Thursday.

Hato Hone St John said it responded with two ambulances and an operations manager.

"Our ambulance staff treated two patients at the scene and transported them to Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, one in a critical condition, the other in a moderate condition," a St John spokesperson said.

One person had been taken into custody.
