Four World Cup final tickets listed for nearly $4 million on FIFA resale site

FIFA's resale site has four tickets for the World Cup final on sale for just under US$2.3 million (NZ$3.9 million) each.

The US$2,299,998.85 (NZ$3,927,018.04) seats for the July 20 match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, are located behind a goal in the lower deck in block 124, row 45, seats 33-36.

FIFA does not control the asking prices on its Resale/Exchange Marketplace but takes a 15% purchase fee from the buyer of each ticket and a 15% resale fee from the seller.

An aisle seat 33 in block 146, row 32 of the lower deck, listed as easy access standard, was listed at US$207,000 (NZ$353,427), while a category two seat in the last row of the uppermost third deck was listed at US$138,000 (NZ$235,618) for block 310, row 26, seat 23. A few feet away, seat 21 has an asking price of US$23,000 (NZ$39,269).

The lowest-priced tickets for the final, listed Thursday on the Marketplace, were US$10,923.85 (NZ$18,650.18) for four seats, four rows from the top of the upper deck behind a goal, in block 323, row 23, seats 13-16.

FIFA did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

FIFA put new blocks of tickets on sale on Wednesday on its direct ticketing site. Available tickets for the final cost US$10,990 (NZ$18,763).

Tickets were available from FIFA at US$11,130 (NZ$19,004) for the July 15 semifinal in Arlington, Texas, and at US$9660 (NZ$16,494) and US$4360 (NZ$7444) for the July 16 semifinal in Atlanta.

Prices for the US opener against Paraguay on June 13 at Inglewood, California, were listed at US$4105 (NZ$7009), US$2735 (NZ$4669), US$2330 (NZ$3978) and US$1940 (NZ$3312), while seats for the Americans' second match against Australia on June 20 at Seattle cost US$2715 (NZ$4636). Tickets for the US group stage finale against Türkiye on June 26 at Inglewood cost US$2970 (NZ$5071) and US$1345 (NZ$2296).

Canada's opener vs Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 13 at Toronto was available for NZ$3360 (NZ$5737), US$2240 (NZ$3824), US$1645 (NZ$2808) and US$980 (NZ$1673).

No tickets were listed directly by FIFA for the June 12 tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa in Mexico City.

For the quarterfinals, available tickets were US$4200 (NZ$7170) and US$1610 (NZ$2748) for the July 10 match at Foxborough, Massachusetts; US$5730 (NZ$2748) for the July 11 game in Inglewood; US$4770 (NZ$8147) and US$1815 (NZ$3100) for the July 12 match at Miami Gardens, Florida, and US$4080 (NZ$6970) for the July 12 game at Kansas City, Missouri.

Tickets for the third-place game at Miami Gardens on July 19 could be purchased at US$1125 (NZ$1921).
