Police are investigating after 18 pet goats were "inhumanely shot" dead at a property in Pōkeno, in the Waikato District, last week.
The incident occurred on Ridge Rd overnight on Wednesday, April 13.
The animals were "inhumanly shot" in a fenced paddock and the carcasses were all left at the scene, Detective Senior Sergeant Natalie Nelson said.
"We are appealing to the public for any information in relation to this incident.
"There will be people in the community that know who is responsible for this and we urge anyone with information to come forward."
Nelson said it was also possible the individual or persons responsible had a dog with them.
