A search is underway for a man missing in the water off the Kaipara Harbour this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Shelly Beach around 1pm after a man entered the water but failed to resurface.
"Unfortunately, the man remains unaccounted for," a police spokesperson told 1News.
"Police and Coastguard are in the process of conducting aerial and surface searches in the area".
Hato Hone St John said it was alerted to the incident at 12.59pm and responded an ambulance, a helicopter, one first response unit, and one clinical support vehicle but their crews were not required.
