A Kiwi father and son have a had a once-in-a-lifetime experience, getting up close and personal with their Tottenham Hotspur idols in Melbourne.

Dad Nick Hulme and his 10-year-old son Seb – both die-hard Tottenham fans – couldn’t believe their luck when a Spurs staff member approached them at a post-season training session at the MCG.

The Premier League side was in Australia for a one-off match against Newcastle United.

“How would you like to see the players up close and personal?” the staff member can be heard asking them.

Nick – who’s been a fan for 45 years – is left stunned, before the pair make their way down to the tunnel to meet stars including Son Heung-Min and James Maddison.

“I was really overwhelmed, not only for me, but for Seb,” Nick said.

“It’s something you couldn’t buy, it was just unreal.”

Seb had burst into tears when his Dad revealed they were attending the training session.

“It was so cool, I’ve wanted to do it for basically my whole life,” Seb said.

“I had butterflies, my legs were shaking.”

For Nick, it was the ultimate father-son moment.

“To have that memory, it sounds quite cliché, that’s probably why I was so overwhelmed because it’s something we share a passion for.

“It was a genuine experience, we got back to the hotel that night, it was unreal. You can’t even explain it.”
