Auckland Central MP and Green party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick has hit out at the vandalism of the rainbow pride crossing on Karangahape Road.
She called it "frankly embarrassing" and urged the vandals to "just stop it".
It was the second rainbow pride crossing to be vandalised this week.
In Gisborne, five people were arrested in connection with similar vandalism at the Gladstone Road crossing.
2 Pacific Peoples Ministry considering 40% jobs cut
A proposal to cut the size of the Ministry for Pacific Peoples workforce by 40% has been described as "brutal" by the union representing its workers.
The ministry, which was formed in 1990, is looking to shed 63 of its 156 positions, the Public Service Association said.
The prime minister today said the Government was trying to instil a culture of fiscal discipline in the public service that was focused on outcomes.
