One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway, near Remuera, with delays expected for motorists.
One northbound lane is closed, according to police, and drivers have been warned to expect delays as holiday traffic begins to build across the city.
"The serious crash unit has been advised," police said.
"One person has been transported to hospital in a serious condition."
Waka Kotahi NZTA has urged drivers to pass with extra care.
Meanwhile, other crashes across Auckland's motorway network are also causing delays as people race to leave the city for Christmas.
Authorities have since cleared two crashes on the Southwestern Motorway this afternoon, but delays are still expected.

The two earlier crashes happened near the Walmsley Rd off-ramp in Mangere and the Portage Rd overbridge.
North of Auckland, State Highway 16 was closed in both directions after a crash at about 12.25pm left a motorcyclist in critical condition.
Motorists were advised to expect delays while diversions were in place. The road was reopened just after 5pm.
