The mother and father of the baby named "Methamphetamine Rules" have revealed the child has a new name.

The four-month-old child is the baby of ABC journalist Kirsten Drysdale and husband Chris, and was given the unusual name while Kirsten was working on a segment for ABC's WTFAQ program in September.

The goal of the show is to provide both real and entertaining answers to common viewer queries. The question "what can I name my baby?" reportedly came up frequently, according to news.com.au.

The journalist aimed to test the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages by deliberately giving the strange name to her newborn.

Names which are deemed to be offensive are not allowed, which is why Kirsten was surprised when the name was accepted.

But speaking to The Project Australia this week, she told the panel it was "all sorted".

"That name has been removed. It no longer is on his birth certificate," Kirsten said.

"He has a new birth certificate with his real name on it."

She did not reveal her child's new name.

“He will not have to, for the rest of his life answer ‘have you ever been known by any other name’,” she said.

“You’re not taking methamphetamines to any parties this Christmas?” host Sarah Harris asked jokingly.

“No, Baby Meth is going to have a quiet Christmas at home this year,” Drysdale said.
