A tourist in Macau has died after completing one of the world's highest bungy jumps.
The Daily Mail reports the 56-year-old Japanese man collapsed shortly after leaping off Macau Tower over the weekend. Officials said he was short of breath, and paramedics found no heartbeat when they arrived at the scene.
He was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
Macau Tower's 233 metre jump is a Skypark by AJ Hackett site, with the Kiwi-linked company warning on its website that customers should disclose medical conditions ahead of participating in jumps.
An AJ Hackett spokesperson told the Daily Mail: "AJ Hackett Macau Tower Limited is saddened by the death of a tourist following a medical situation at Macau Tower... that occurred after the bungy jump was completed.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased's family.
"Safety is our top priority, and each and every customer is subject to stringent safety procedures... [and] the tourist followed all safety requirements before taking the bungy jump."
