One person is in a critical condition following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 in central Hawke's Bay this afternoon.

The crash on Tangoio Settlement Rd was reported to police around 1.15pm.

Both lanes of the road are blocked.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
