The driver of a car that crashed into a boiling hot pool at Rotorua's Kuirau Park this afternoon has been rescued with no reported injuries.
Police responded to the accident shortly before 2.20pm, after a car lost control at a roundabout crashing through a fence on Ranolf St into a geothermal pool.
A police spokesperson said the crash appeared to be the result of a medical event.
St John also attended the scene.
Footage seen by 1News shows a 4WD parked in front of a hole in a fence marked with police tape.
Skid marks were visible in the grass from where the car drove through into the hot pool.
Multiple police cars and a fire engine can be seen in the video.
An onlooker said that the car “shot straight through the roundabout”, ending up in the hot pool.
“She was lucky, she managed to climb out. She seems to be alright,” they said.
Water temperatures across Kuirau Park range from 20°C to 90°C — just below boiling.
