A Chinese airline said it will honour customer's tickets after a glitch saw consumers snapping up airfares for just $2.
China Southern Airlines said earlier this week a technical glitch on its mobile phone app and various ticket-booking platforms was the reason tickets were being sold between 10, 20 or 30 yuan - $2.22 to $6.99 NZD.
CNN reported that one screenshot circulating online showed a ticket from Chengdu to Beijing priced at only 10 yuan.
The normal minimum price of the flight would be 400 to 500 yuan (about $93 to $116).
The tickets were available for roughly two hours before the glitch was fixed.
On top of the discounted rate, buyers had to pay an additional 110 yuan, or $25, in airport fees and fuel surcharges.
Because tickets were paid for and printed, "passengers can use them as normal," a Guangzhou-based China Southern Airline representative said.
