Breakfast hosts Anna Burns-Francis and Matty McLean have gone head-to-head in a cake baking competition ahead of the new My Kitchen Rules season.
MKR judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge were tasked with a blind taste-test of the hosts' cakes.
Feildel said one of the sweet treats "looked more feminine". Burns-Francis joked: "I mean that could mean anything between the two of us."
Trying Burns-Francis' cake first, Feildel said it tasted "much better than it looks".
Tasting McLean's, both judges said the base was too thick and that it wasn't set enough, but tasted still "delicious".
After Feildel and Fassnidge rated both cakes a 7/10, the judges were shocked when Burns-Francis' revealed her creation was from a boxed cake mix.
"Oh my god, you cheated," Feildel joked.
"You see if you were on, [the show] and we saw you make it out of a box, we'd just kick you out," Fassnidge laughed.
The new season of My Kitchen Rules NZ airs tonight on TVNZ 2 & TVNZ+ at 7.30.
