One dead after car collides with building in Taupō

One person has died after a car crashed into a Taupō building during the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where it appears the car had driven off the road and collided with the building on Mere Road.

The driver of the car died at the scene.

"Police offer condolences to the family of the deceased person."

Police enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
