Person dies following crash near Wānaka Airport

One person has died following a single-car crash in Otago early on Monday morning.

Police say they were alerted to the incident on State Highway 6, just just south of Wānaka Airport, about 4.20am.

The driver, the vehicle's sole occupant, died at the scene.
