Tonight’s Good Sort is a woman helping dozens of mums after moving from Cape Town, in South Africa to Palmerston North.

Jacquie Nutt runs a milk bank located next to Palmerston North Hospital for mums needing or donating breast milk.

"I remember crying on my husband's shoulder the first time that we received that batch of milk," one mum dropping off a donation of excess milk said.

"I don't think breastfeeding is just one person's job - it needs to be a community effort and I've really experienced that."

The milk must first be pastuerised, with seven litres taking two days. Last month, Nutt treated 77 litres.

A lot of the milk goes next door to the hospital for premature babies.

“The need is up. There are mums who are desperate,” she said.

It means that sometimes, Nutt must make a decision on who gets the milk.

"She's an amazing woman," another mum added. "I owe her a haircut at the end."
