NZ media personality pleads not guilty to $300k money laundering charge

May 3, 2019
The recent arrival is the latest gang banned from wearing or displaying insignia and patches in government buildings.

A 36-year-old media personality will keep his name suppressed after appearing in the Auckland District Court this morning.

The man, who is charged in connection with the Comanchero gang, pleaded not guilty to a sole charge of jointly laundering about $300,000.

The court will hear arguments about continued name suppression on May 17.

Last month police raided 10 Auckland properties, seizing about $4 million worth of assets and arresting 11 people.

At the time police said the gang had established themselves in East Auckland after patched members, who were deported from Australia, established a chapter.

The raids were a culmination of a year-long investigation into the gang's activities.
