Many Kiwis have witnessed the sad and slow demise of the local video store for a number of years.
Once a highly desirable destination to rent a VHS, DVD or Blueray, most are now closed.
Online video streaming killed the DVD star, and subscription service Netflix is now worth tens of billions of dollars.
Wellington institution Aro Video has been one of the few video stores to stay in business in New Zealand.
And Aro Video owner Andrew Armitage told TVNZ1's Seven Sharp he's confident the store can keep going.
"As long as I keep coming up with new ideas I feel confident that we can keep going, while those ideas are supported by our community and our customer base which does extend nationwide through our website," he said.
Mr Armitage said the latest idea they've rolled out is to modify an American software platform which enables customers to pay on a monthly subscription basis, a bit like you would with Netflix.
"And then they have unlimited access to our 25,000 DVDs that we have available in the real world."
Could this video store institution in the capital even become a tourist attraction or museum one day?
Andrew Armitage plans for it to stay the real thing for a while.
