A large swath of New Zealand is in for a wet weekend.
Heavy rain is forecast to hit eastern areas of Marlborough and Wellington, the Coromandel Peninsula and western Bay of Plenty until early Monday.
According to MetService, the threat of heaviest rain is in eastern Marlborough - especially the Kaikoura coast, southern Wairarapa, the eastern hills of Wellington, Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty west of Te Puke.
There is a heavy rain watch in place for the Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty west of Te Puke from the early hours of Sunday to the early hours of Monday.
Eastern Marlborough - mainly about the Kaikoura coast, southern Wairarapa and the Orongorongo Range in Wellington - also have a heavy rain watch from Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening.
