One person dead after car crashes into bridge near Hastings

One person has died after crashing into a bridge near Hastings this morning.

Emergency services were called to a crash, on State Highway 50, Tikokino, near Glencoe Station Road and Creek Road, about 1.20am.

The sole occupant of the crash died at the scene, police said in a statement.

The serious crash unit is investigating the incident and the road remains closed.
